Unfolding

When I Say
I love you:
More than mere words
Fall from my lips.
The contents of my heart
Pour out into yours.
The entirety of me
Speaks to all that is you.

When I Say
I love you:
I speak with more
Than my mouth.
The words I utter
Spring from deep within.
My soul’s feeble attempt
To capture all that you are.

When I Say
I love you:
A covenant is made
To have and to hold.
A promise to travel with you
Along life’s treacherous way.
Unfolding love’s greatest mystery
When two equal one.
