Winter's Secret

Silently
Green fades to brown,
Vibrancy yields to monotony.
The earth
Bids a sad farewell
To the life it once held
That once graced its face.
Heaven mourns the loss
With frozen tears
Shrouding the earth
In a frigid blanket of white.
Muted
Nature lies in wait
Expectant of newness;
An advent yet unknown.
Hidden from view,
Beneath winter’s quilt,
The husk falls
Revealing life’s essence
Once held captive.
Old is shed.
New is born.
The miracle begins
Again
For the first time.
